Teeth in Turkey or at home?

Here it is cheaper and better — and without the worry and without the travelling. Below you will find what a package price usually includes and what it does not, and what to have confirmed before any procedure, at home or abroad.

Why you are even considering a procedure abroad

The reason is simple and entirely legitimate: price. A full reconstruction of the teeth costs so much in Western Europe that a package with the procedure, the flight and the accommodation looks like a sensible solution. Quick appointments and one trip instead of several visits usually come with it.

Let us say the other thing plainly as well: there are excellent clinics abroad and patients who came back from them satisfied. The country is not what makes the difference. The difference is made by exactly what you have ordered and who stands behind it when something goes wrong six months later.

That is why we do not compare countries here. We compare two things you can check before you pay a deposit: what is in the price, and what follows the procedure.

What to have confirmed before the procedure — anywhere

  1. Step 1 of 5

A written treatment plan AFTER the examination and the 3D scan, not before it.

  2. Step 2 of 5

The name of the implant system and the type of crown in the plan itself, not only in the price list.

  3. Step 3 of 5

Who does the check-ups after the procedure, where, and at what cost.

  4. Step 4 of 5

A written guarantee and the name of the doctor who will honour it.

  5. Step 5 of 5

The number of visits and the length of healing, on paper.

A clinic that gives you that in writing is a safe choice anywhere.

The same implants you will find in offers from abroad

We work with two implant systems — Straumann and MegaGen. Straumann is a Swiss system and one of the most widely used implant systems in the world; MegaGen is a modern system with an excellent price-to-quality ratio. Both are named in our price list, together with the price of a single implant.

That is the whole reason we name them: the make of an implant is something you can check and compare anywhere. If someone does not put it in your treatment plan, you are not comparing prices — you are comparing numbers with nothing behind them.

What it costs here, without conversions

All on 4 starts here at 2 900 € with the MegaGen system and at 4 100 € with the Straumann system. All on 6, that is six implants instead of four, starts at 3 800 € and 5 600 € respectively.

The implantology consultation is free of charge and the 3D scan that shows the height and thickness of the bone costs 40 €. Out of it comes a written treatment plan with a price — and you can compare that with any offer from abroad.

The full breakdown of both packages and the prices of the individual procedures are in the price list.

Patients who decided to stay at home

More than a thousand patients have chosen our solution instead of a procedure abroad. Patients come to us from the Czech Republic and from Austria too — Košice has an airport, and an appointment can be planned so that you arrive in the morning and are home in the evening.

Some of them came to us only after treatment abroad had not turned out as they hoped. This is not an argument against travelling for treatment. It is an argument for knowing in advance who will be available to you when something needs sorting out.

What patients come to us with after treatment abroad

These are typical situations from our consultations, not the stories of particular patients.

Pain under the new work

The crowns fitted quickly, the tooth underneath was left untreated

The patient came back with the work finished and with pressure in one tooth, which turned into pain after a few weeks. He had left with the treatment declared complete.

What they came with

A tooth under a crown that needed root canal treatment before anything was fitted onto it.

What could be done

Root canal treatment and a new crown. The work had to be taken apart to reach what should have been dealt with first.

An implant that did not integrate

One of the implants did not hold, and it only showed at home

Healing takes months, and that cannot be fitted into a single trip. That one of the implants had not integrated with the bone only showed up long after the return home.

What they came with

A mobile implant and bone loss around it. The other implants held.

What could be done

Removal of the implant, bone augmentation and a new implant once it had healed. The rest of the work was kept.

Missing documentation

Nobody could say what implant was in the jaw

The patient brought an invoice and photographs. He did not have a treatment plan or the name of the implant system — and without it you cannot order an abutment that fits that implant.

What they came with

An implant with no documentation, to which a crown had to be added.

What could be done

The system was identified from an X-ray and from the shape of the connection. It could be done, but it cost one extra visit and extra waiting — and that is exactly what one line in a treatment plan saves.

Frequently asked questions

The price of the procedure itself does tend to be lower. But only the total can be compared: the package price comes with travel, accommodation, days off and possibly a second trip if the restoration needs adjusting. All on X starts here at 2 900 € and covers the whole procedure including the bridge and the abutments.

The make of an implant is not a question of country. Premium and cheaper systems alike can be bought anywhere — which is why it matters that the particular system is stated in the treatment plan. We work with the Straumann and MegaGen systems and both are named in our price list.

That is the main practical question with any procedure done abroad. Find out in advance who does the check-ups, where any adjustment is dealt with and how the guarantee is claimed. If a complication appears once you are home, treatment by another dentist is new work at a new price.

In most cases yes, but only after an examination. Bring whatever documentation you have — the treatment plan, the name of the implant system, the scans. The more of it you have, the less has to be done again from scratch.

It depends on the extent. With implants it means placing them, a period of healing during which the implant joins with the bone, and only then the abutment and the crown. Healing usually takes several months and cannot be shortened to fit the length of a holiday.

The implantology consultation is free of charge. A 3D X-ray costs 40 €. The result is a written treatment plan with a price, which you can take away and compare.
